British Polo Day returns to the Americas for the 5th British Polo Day Mexico

14th November 2016 – British Polo Day Mexico 2016 is set to mark the fifth British Polo Day to take place at Balvanera Polo & Country Club preceded by a 3-day itinerary in San Miguel de Allende. With its cobbled streets and culture, San Miguel de Allende is a fitting location to base guests with its shared history of culture and heritage in a town which attracts globe-trotters from around the world.
On Saturday 19th November, the British Polo Day Global Series - presented by RJI Capital and under the patronage of the de Alba Family - returns to Balvanera Polo & Country Club. Last year’s VIP guests included Cecilia Suárez, Emmy International nominated Mexican actress, Alejandra Alemán and Richard Le Poer, the Earl of Tyrone, who flew in to battle it out on the polo field. This year’s guests will again be welcomed by the Harrods Green Man who will be flying out exclusively from the Knightsbridge store to welcome guests under the Harrods Flower Arch.
The line-up for British Polo Day Mexico is as follows:

4.30pm British Schools II vs Balvanera

The day will begin with a Champagne Taittinger Reception before guests feast their eyes on a display of ‘live entertainment’ of the Brompton Bicycle Polo teams assembling their bikes for a comical competition.
Following the light-hearted game, and an authored lunch with a Royal Salute Quaich experience lead by none other than Peter Prentice, ponies and players will be brought onto the pitch for the Official Opening Ceremony led by the impressive Bentley ‘double act’ and closely followed by the British Schools I team and the Mexico team who will battle it out in their bid for the RJI Capital Plate.
An afternoon tea with a side of a tequila for those wanting to be adventurous, will provide a chance for all the guests to quench their thirsts before watching the final match of the day which will consist of the British Schools II Team who will be up against Balvanera for the prized Bentley Cup.
Worthy players and delighted guests will come together and raise their glasses to the day’s winning polo teams collecting their trophies during the Prize Giving Ceremony.
